A long-period southwest swell has arrived along the San Diego coast today, stirring up the shallower reefs and exposed shoreline. Divers are reporting around 10–15 feet of visibility in the protected areas of La Jolla this morning, with cleaner blue water holding farther offshore where visibility may reach 15–20 feet.

The Cove is seeing the most impact from the swell, with surge and whitewater reducing visibility near the rocks. La Jolla Shores remains the better option, especially early in the morning before the afternoon sea breeze builds. Surface conditions are manageable, but expect noticeable surge on the bottom and use extra caution around entries and exits. Water temperatures remain comfortable in the 70–72°F range.
