We're buggin’ out Lobster Opener is 6pm tonight!!! Viz is sitting around 15ft, but there’s still a pretty heavy particulate load in the water. Things get noticeably hazier beyond that first 10ft or so with reduced contrast and clarity.
We’ve got a mixed, moderate swell in the water today. Winds are light this morning, keeping the surface smooth with minimal chop, but expect NNW winds around 10–15 kts this afternoon. Tonight, those winds will turn more northerly before easing to NE 5–10 kts after midnight.
The tide will be pulling out this afternoon into the evening, which isn’t ideal for viz and may keep some of that particulate moving around. Tomorrow morning’s incoming tide looks a little more promising for pushing in cleaner water.
For anyone heading out for opening night, expect plenty of particulate still hanging around. Keep the outgoing tide and afternoon wind in mind when choosing your spot.
Happy lobster season & as always, dive safe!
