Water is looking blue this morning, although we’re still seeing some haze with viz sitting around 15 ft. Conditions should stay fairly similar through most of the day, but as the tide starts pulling out again this evening, we will see the water get a little more stirred up.

Not too much swell to deal with today. We’ve got a mixed swell around 2 ft, light W winds around 5–10 kts, and wind waves staying at 1 ft or less. Overall, surface conditions are looking pretty manageable.

There’s also something interesting heading our way. An El Niño-driven "Kelvin Wave" is traveling up the coast from Mexico and is bringing a large surge of warm water with it. This invisible "bulge" of water will cause extra-high tides and raise baseline sea levels, also likely to push SD's typical cold thermocline a bit deeper down. When incoming, long-period hurricane swells ride on top of this elevated sea level, it can churn up bottom sediment resulting in strong surges and murky viz. 

For now, though, around 15 ft of hazy but blue viz with fairly mellow swell.
