Beginner Freediver + Beginner Spearfishing Combination Course
Learn the fundamentals of freediving and spearfishing with a professional freediving instructor and spearfishing guide. This action packed course includes the classroom, pool, and skills session of the Beginner Freediver Course. On the final day of this course, instead of the depth session you will have a full day of spearfishing (Beginner Spearfishing Course)
Who is This Course For?
We recommend this combination course for those who have experience in the water and are already confident with 10-20' dives at a minimum in cold water. To be completely new to the sport and add spearfishing on in the same weekend, is often too much too quick. If you don't have freediving experience we recommend the Beginner Freediver Course, followed by the one day Beginner Spearfishing Course. The price is similar, and taking them separately gives you an additional depth session with an instructor, which most beginners find extremely valuable.

Equalization & Certification
One of the biggest challenges in freediving is equalization. By enrolling in a Molchanovs program, you’ll receive access to their Frenzel Fundamentals course, which has a 90% success rate in helping students learn to equalize before arriving at class.
Freediving courses across major agencies are largely similar. We previously taught for FII and have experience with PFI, SSI, and AIDA. We currently certify through Molchanovs because of:
Prerequisites - Am I Ready?
Freediving is built on relaxation and comfort in the water. While we teach efficiency and relaxation techniques, students should already feel at ease in aquatic environments.
Course prerequisite:
If you’re not yet comfortable in open water, you may select the pool-only option, complete the theory and pool sessions, and return later for open water when you’re ready.
Certification Requirements
Our priority is helping you develop comfortably and safely, so don’t stress about requirements.
That said, to receive a Molchanovs certification, you’ll need:
- Static breath hold: 1:30
- 30m DYNB underwater in the pool
- CWTB & FIM 12 - 20m (39 - 66ft)
- CWTB Buddying 6 - 10m (20 - 33ft)
- CWTB Rescue 6 - 10m
In this combo course, the final day focuses on spearfishing, so certification requirements are not the primary emphasis.
If you don’t meet the requirements during the course, no problem — we host weekly Sunday line-diving sessions where you can continue progressing alongside our community through Refresher Sessions or Coaching Sessions with an instructor until certified.
