Some MAJOR upgrades
We've got big news...some more exciting than others. One is our new In Season Calendar, and while we're really proud of it it's not nearly as big as our other news. That news is 40' long, over 13' wide, and built for some serious long distance spearfishing expeditions. Meet the Escapade.
This 1970 custom Westport/Tollycraft has the strongest bones out of any boat you will find, and over the past 6 years was painstakingly rebuilt by the legend himself, Matt Johnson (Captain Bly). Every inch has been refurbished or rebuilt for one purpose: getting offshore, and bringing back lots of fish. From 2022 John Deere Diesel Engines, the through hull extending side scan sonar, refrigerated fish hold, oversized bait tanks, all new electrical wiring, full kitchen, and oversized bunks for 4 passengers, Bly added absolutely everything that could possibly be needed.
We just did our first crew mission on the Escapade, and the experience of taking this boat out was completely different than a center console. Here's what you can expect. You'll be picked up at night in San Diego, and while we cruise out to the fishing grounds you get to eat, sleep, and get ready for a full two days of diving. Wake up at the dive site, hunt until you're ready for a break, rinse off and warm up with the hot water shower on deck, and get some freshly cooked breakfast from the griddle. Spend the rest of that day, and the day after that doing the exact same thing, and throwing some lines over the side when the sun goes down or whenever it seems like a better option, or heading below deck for a quick nap. At the end of the second day there is nothing left to do but relax, sleep while we drive back to port, and get dropped off fresh and rested the following morning.
We can't wait to take you all out there. Whether it's San Clemente Island, Cortez or Tanner Banks, Catalina, or even Santa Barbara Island, we have the range to get to the fish, spend a lot of time actually diving and hunting them, and do it all in comfort. This boat is a game changer
We are extremely fortunate to have gotten to work with and learn from Captain Bly over the past few years, and as he plans to run some trips for us this year we are excited to be part of the legacy he has built.
