##About
Come with us and learn the FUNdamentals necessary to comfortably explore the underwater world with freedom and relaxation, on one breath!
You will learn the basics of freediving and be able to immediately apply them in the pool, as well as in the ocean here in San Diego and beyond. Numbers aren't the focus for this class, there are no performance requirements or certifications, it's all about discovering your inner dolphin by getting you comfortable in the water, familiar with your natural abilities, and more than anything having fun!
The class is broken up into three sections over a day and a half.
Course Outline
**Classroom**
Day 1 (Friday) , 5pm-7pm
During this session you will learn how freediving works, and why humans are capable of diving to great depths. You will learn breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as how to clear your ears when you dive.
**Pool Session**
Day 2, 7am - 10am
In this sessions you will become familiar with freediving equipment such as mask snorkel and fins, you will learn how to hold your breath in a relaxed and safe way, and you will practice swimming underwater with long fins. Our freediving instructors understand this might be the first time you've done anything like this, and will tailor the instruction and exercises to your personal needs.
##Equipment requirements
We have all of the diving gear to rent if you need it with the exception of the optional ear plugs. You will have the option to add rental gear to your order at checkout. It is not necessary to buy a new set of equipment prior to your course. However, if there is something you do need/want to purchase then please do not hesitate to call us to get recommendations.
**Mask** – A low volume spearfishing/freediving mask.
**Snorkel** – A simple J. style snorkel
**Wetsuit** – A surf wetsuit is ideal for the pool session but we do have 5mm freedive suits available for rent.
Weights/Weight Belt - Even though this is a pool only course, with the buoyancy of a 3mm surf suit you will need weights in order to be neutrally buoyant at 1m, which will make your dynamic dives much more relaxed and efficient. We recommend 4-8lbs with a 3mm surf suit
**Fins** – Longblade freediving fins, scuba fins, or snorkel fins
