Beginner Spearfishing Course
Learn the fundamentals of becoming a safe, effective underwater hunter in this half-day spearfishing course.
Important Disclaimer
There is no course that will instantly make you a top-tier spearo or speara, spearfishing is a skill-based sport that requires time, experience, and repetition. What this course will give you are proven techniques to significantly improve your hunting success, along with a strong understanding of the safety principles required to operate responsibly in a dynamic ocean environment.

Instruction & Student Experience
All guides are certified freediving instructors with extensive spearfishing experience. After teaching hundreds of students, we’ve found that a 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio is the maximum for maintaining both safety and high-quality instruction.
This low ratio means:
- Personalized coaching
- Constant safety oversight
- Instruction tailored to your skill level
We are intentionally selective when choosing instructors. Beyond being skilled divers and hunters, our instructors are approachable, adaptable, and excellent communicators, and yes, they’re also a lot of fun to be around!
Prerequisites
The most important factor in spearfishing is your freediving ability. You don’t need to dive deep, but you do need to be comfortable in open water, able to swim long distances on the surface and capable of making smooth, controlled dives. If these are challenging, adding hunting with a loaded speargun can quickly become overwhelming and unsafe.
For this reason, a Beginner Freediver certification is required.
This does not need to be completed through Just Get Wet, any reputable agency is acceptable (Molchanovs, FII, PFI, PADI, AIDA, SSI).
If you’re new to freediving, we strongly recommend completing the freediving course separately before adding spearfishing. While we do offer a Beginner Freediver + Spearfishing combination course, this option is best suited for those who already have freediving/spearing experience.
